Many of our customers are still renting out Alloyfold chairs from 2001, but for Dave Smith from Ace Equipment & Party Rentals in Pascagoula they’ve not only stood up to the test of time but also the USA’s most deadly hurricane in 77 years!
When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, 90% of Pascagoula was flooded and Ace Equipment & Party Rentals’ inventory ended up under 6ft of salt water which was contaminated with toxic corrosive chemicals! Dave said that he had to throw all of his steel chairs away as the toxic water had put holes in them, but the Alloyfolds were able to go straight back into service. Dave, who has a degree in chemical engineering describes the anodizing on Alloyfold chairs as “military grade - they are superior to any other anodizing I have seen”. These tough chairs from 2001 are still in his inventory and are still going strong. Dave says they are well suited to the tough environment of Pascagoula which is 30 miles from the Gulf Coast. He puts them through automatic washing machines, then they sit in a warehouse with 97 degree heat and 95% humidity - with no ill-effects. Steel chairs on the other hand only last for 4 years before they rust out. “I can’t imagine a more extreme environment to keep chairs, but the Alloyfold’s perform well.” These long-lasting, New Zealand designed Aluminum chairs are available in 3 models: our signature A6, our original A2 sled leg chair which is great for soft ground and won’t damage artificial turf and our stylish new Fanback. While it’s nice to know that Alloyfold Chairs are tough enough to withstand a natural disaster, let’s hope they never again have to! See you at The Rental Show, February 10-12, Booth 3241 or give me a call to talk chairs.
